Literature Analysis: A work in progress

THE BASICS:     1) The plot of this novel is a young girl named Hazel suffers from cancer and may possibly die. She meets a boy named Augusts and he changes her whole life. 2) The theme of this novel is life and death. What I mean by this is once Hazel finds out she has cancer she also finds out she might die. So she lives her life to the fullest after she meets Augusts. 3)  Based on the author's tone I  imagine his morning routine as, he gets ups early and may possibly drink a cup of coffee. For breakfast I can picture him spreading strawberry jelly on a piece of whole wheat bread. For the hungover question I can imagine the author rubbing his eyes and then outing his hands over his head as he walks to the bathroom to wash his face and possibly throw up. 4) NEXT LEVEL: 1) What drew me to this book was as I picked up the book I turned it around and saw that "The Fault in Our Stars" is meant to be a love story and there are times I like to read love stories.

Vocab from Young Goodman Brown

hoary-  (of a person) having gray or white hair; aged fervid- intensely enthusiastic or passionate, especially to an excessive degree eloquence- fluent or persuasive speaking or writing blasphemer-  speak irreverently about God or sacred things sermon-  a talk on a religious or moral subject, especially one given during a church service and based on a passage from the Bible

Young Goodman Brown Discussion

I believe that everything Brown saw/ heard was just his mind messing with him. I also think Brown may have died because in the story, last paragraph, last sentence it says,"... they carved no hopeful verse upon his tombstone; for his dying hour was gloom." I believe he died because of that quote. I think maybe everything was a dream as well because Brown may have been in a coma, while he was experiencing everything because if he saw an old man with a serpent cane that could have represented death, which may have meant that it was time for Brown to leave this world.

Young GoodMan Brown Questions

1) The authors purpose if writing this story was to show his audience how people are capable of sinning. 2) I think Faith's name fits her because Young Goodman Brown's faith was to be with his wife. 3) I think that the pink ribbons represent his wife's innocence and playfulness. They may also mean she had different characteristics, what I mean is that she may have not have been innocent as we first thought. 4) I believe that everything Brown experienced was part of his imagination and conjured by evil. I say conjured by evil because as described in the story I believe it was him of the man who he was walking with had a cane in a shape of a serpent. 5) I think the old man may represent either dead or even maybe the devil, because who else walks around with a cane shaped as a serpent. 6) I believe the staff represents different sins that Young Goodman Brown has made. 7) I think if  Brown had not ventured into the forest his life would have been different and I thi

MY Big Question

Why in world do people with great hearts always suffer the most throughout their life? Why? That would be my question. This is my question because I know so many great people and they are the ones who have suffered the most throughout their life time, it may be family wise and even health wise.

Today I was Thinking

I was off topic in class today, I had so much to think about, but the one thing that I kept thinking about was why do all bad things happen to good people. Why do great, caring and trust worthy people have to suffer the most? I was also thinking why do people with such great hearts are the ones who are broken the most and I may have also wondered about why people get cancer and who was the first person to discover cancer.

Making of an Essay

As I wrote I had some troubles explaining because the author had different forms of speech in his writing. In another way I mean I had a difficult time interpreting his words into my own words. Over all I feel my essay could have been better but not so bad at the same time.
